Fire crews in Denver successfully battled a blaze that damaged a single-family home in the northwest part of the city on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency dispatchers were first called out to the blaze at about 2 p.m. Arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the home on the 2100 block of West Elk Place.
Firefighters who initially searched the structure did not find any victims, according to Mark Watson, fire department spokesman. Authorities say they do not believe anyone is still in the home.
Watson said that a couple of pets are unaccounted for.
A photo from the scene showed flames shooting out of the structure.
Watson said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
