A Douglas County judge on Thursday dismissed all claims that Castle Rock improperly ran a special election last summer that lifted open-carry firearm restrictions.

Resident Daniel Meurer and two issue committees sued Castle Rock after the August election, challenging the process the town had used to count and tabulate ballots. The judge Thursday dismissed the six claims listed in the lawsuit.

He ruled there was no misconduct by election officials, the municipal election code did not apply to the town as a home-rule entity, secrecy sleeves were not required and the rights of election watchers were not violated.
