The Rapids homegrown players did not see the pitch in the in an international friendly.
O’Neill, 21, was included in the U.S. 18-man roster for the match and was available off the bench, but finished the game as an unused sub. It was the first time the Fairview High School grad has dressed for a match with the senior national team.
Twenty-year-old Serna of Brighton did not suit up for the match.
The Rapids duo will have another chance to play for the Stars and Stripes on Feb. 8 in Carson, Calif. in an international friendly against Panama.
