Todd Usry of Breckenridge (RJ Sangosti, The Denver Post).
Breckenridge Brewery is deep into negotiations with a Denver developer who intends to lease the brewery’s real estate on Kalamath Street to Crazy Mountain Brewing, owner Todd Usry confirmed Monday.
Breckenridge has a “hard letter of intent” to close the deal but is not yet under contract, Usry said. He declined to go into much further detail until the deal is sealed.
The deal has long been in the works, and originally Crazy Mountain indicated a strong interest in buying the 50-barrel brewhouse, restaurant and property itself. that the growing Vail Valley brewery was offered first crack at the purchase.
The Breckenridge property was on the market because the legacy brewery is building an ambitious $20 million farm-style brewery and tourist destination along the South Platte River in Littleton.
Usry said Monday things are moving along at the new site, and the first test brew date is scheduled for March 16. The place will open to the public somewhere around March 9 or 12.
The new restaurant will seek to raise the bar from standard brewery fare, with a lot of fresh produce and a kind of “comfort food meets farm-to-table” menu, Usry said.
We’ve left messages for Crazy Mountain co-founders Marisa and Kevin Selvy.
