Among the sponsors of House Bill 1154:
Rep. Kevin Van Winkle, R-Highlands Ranch, when he was employed by the state Senate GOP policy office he “worked to advance Conservative values and shine a light on many of the liberal policies that have hurt job growth and infringed on our freedoms.”
Rep. Jessie Danielson, D-Wheat Ridge, the former state director for America Votes, she was instrumental in passing a 2013 election law opposed by Republican lawmakers. Before that, she worked for NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado for several years.
Senate sponsors include Republicans Vicki Marble and Laura Woods, and Democrats Irene Aguilar and Lucia Guzman, again an unusual grouping.
According to The Denver Post’s David Migoya, “The bill aims to trim the fees processors charge retailers for letting customers pay with plastic. Known as interchange or swipe fees, they can be as high as 3 percent of the total purchase amount, including the sales tax.” The bill is sponsored by representatives Jon Becker, R-Fort Morgan, and Alec Garnett, D-Denver, and Sen. Owen Hill, R-Colorado Springs.
was introduced in the House last week and and assigned to the Finance Committee.
