With all of the recent negative press and media attention focused on our uniformed officers, I wanted to shine a light on an officer who went above and beyond expectations.
My 92-year old mother was returning from a doctor’s appointment when her car broke down. Her cellphone was not functioning, so she was unable to call for assistance. At just the right moment, a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy, Jesse Daniel, pulled up behind her vehicle. He made sure she was safe, even offered to let her sit in his vehicle, as she is somewhat disabled by arthritis; he called for a tow truck; he called my brother to alert him to the situation; and then he drove her home. He treated her with respect, dignity and as if she was his own mother.
We always hear of the bad, rarely the good.
