1 Thief recognized at sock box. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office got a call Jan. 20 from a woman at Cozy Cleaners, 27790 Colorado 74, Evergreen, who recognized a man there as the suspect in the theft of a backpack and cash at a local Safeway the week prior. Deputies contacted the suspect at a nearby gas station. He denied being at the cleaners, then admitted to looking through the sock box there. The theft victim was called to the scene and positively identified the suspect, who was issued a summons.
2 Theft case blows over. A tenant at 600 Corporate Circle, Golden, reported the possible attempted theft of an aluminum trailer parked at his unit Jan. 19. The trailer was moved from its original spot and there appeared to be pry marks on it, but there was no evidence of entry and nothing was missing. Later, video surveillance showed the trailer being blown across the parking lot and into a wall by strong winds.
3 Mad man damages apartment. On Jan. 21 in the 26000 block of Colorado 74, Evergreen, Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who got in a physical fight with his stepson, threw his wife into a coat closet, broke a window with a broom, tore the hood off of an oven range and threw a chair, damaging his wife’s car. The man was drunk and did not remember the incident.
4 Thief takes cash, moves pants. A patron of Buchanan Park Recreation Center, 32003 Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen, reported Jan. 20 that someone took his pants out of a locker, and stole cash from his wallet. He found his pants in a bathroom stall.
