Wednesday’s snow has left avalanche danger considerable along the northern Front Range mountains and in Summit and Eagle counties, the state’s avalanche information center says.

“It will be easy to trigger wind slab avalanches in drifted areas (Thursday),” the Colorado Avalanche Information Center said.

Avalanche risk is “considerable” at spots near the treeline and above, according to the CAIC. Observers reported slides this week near Loveland Pass, Jones Pass, Berthoud Pass and Cameron Pass.

The Colorado Department of Transportation completed avalanche control work off Interstate 70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel on Thursday morning.
