Re: “Deputy retires over Wyoming sheriff’s ban on Western attire,” Feb. 3 news story.
Stephen Haskell, the new sheriff of Wyoming’s Sublette County, has banned his deputies from wearing cowboy hats and cowboy boots. (Photo courtesy Sublette County Sheriff’s office)
Although virtually every other organization in America has a dress code, I guess I was a little surprised by the national media attention when a Wyoming sheriff said that his deputies couldn’t wear cowboy hats and cowboy boots on the job. This caused one defiant deputy to ride into the sunset. Sad. Itap always been my hope to be pulled over by some guy who looks like Roy Rogers.
