Re: “Investigators tie China to Anthem data breach,” Feb. 6 news story.
Would someone please explain to me how Anthem, a major corporation, did not spend some of its enormous profits to encrypt the data of its customers? And then when the data are breached, they wring their hands and call on the FBI (funded by taxpayers) to solve the ‘mystery’ of how they were breached. You were breached because our data were not encrypted!
We are required to give our Social Security numbers, but corporations are not required to encrypt and protect them? This is outrageous. Is anyone thinking class-action lawsuit? I am. The New York attorney general takes on big corporations – how about Colorado on behalf of its citizens? No more passes to corporations for not investing in the protection of our data.
