The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning Sunday for foothill areas with elevations between 6,000-9,000 feet.

The service says those areas, which include higher elevations in Larimer and Boulder Counties, as well as some parts of Jefferson and Douglas Counties, could see anywhere from eight to 16 inches of snow.

The forecast for the Denver metro area calls for about three to six inches of snow between Sunday and Tuesday, the service said.
