BetterDoctor.com says the fittest city in America is … Aurora.
Yes, Aurora.
The where it rated “which cities make it easy to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.”
Cities were ranked in terms of park spending per person; park acres per 1,000 people; percentage of people at a healthy weight and percentage of people who say they have exercised in the last 30 days.
Aurora came in at 75.21 points, ahead of No. 2 San Francisco at 73.56 and No. 3 Oakland at 72.29.
Denver, by the way, ranked the sixth-most fit with 70.50 points on the index.
Some of the findings:
• Big cities tend to be more walkable and have younger populations, leading them to score higher on the fit index.
• Five of the bottom cities are in Texas, where cities are a bit more spread out, making it difficult to travel in any way other than by car.
• Five out of the top 10 cities are in California where a temperate climate allows for outdoor activities, making it easier to have an active lifestyle.
