Pueblo County sophomore Grant Willits has been after he forfeited his second round match Friday, weighing in one-tenth of a pound over his 113-pound weight limit, the Pueblo Chieftain reported.
Willits, who won the 4A state title at 106 pounds last year, was looking to claim his second state title. His twin brother Hunter, the 132-pound champion in 2014, advanced to the semifinals of the 138-pound bracket.
“The kid is devastated and the team is devastated,” Pueblo County coach Eddie Soto said to the Chieftain. “But we will pull through and do what we have to do.”
