Police organizations from across the Denver area will gather Saturday for a rally at the city’s police memorial.
The rally, from noon to 2 p.m., will remember “the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice,” according to the flier announcing the event.
The memorial, which honors officers who died in the line of duty, is outside the Denver Police Department, 1331 Cherokee St.
The memorial was vandalized Feb. 14 during a protest against four incidents in seven months in which police fired at moving vehicles, killing two suspects.
In the vandalism case, two men were arrested for pouring red paint on the stone monument.
Organizations involved in Saturday’s event include:
• Denver Police Protective Association.
• Colorado Fraternal Order of Police.
• Aurora Police Association.
• Boulder Police Officers’ Association.
• Colorado Springs Police Protective Association.
• Denver Black Police Officers Organization.
• Denver Police LGBT Association.
• Women’s Police Association of Colorado.
• National Latino Peace Officers Association.
• Sentinels Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.
• Colorado Patriot Guard Riders.
The flier urged family members, friends and supporters to gather for a moment of silence and to honor the fallen.
