A woman who forged letters and falsified documents purportedly from her employer to her probation officer pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempting to influence a public official and attempted identity theft.

Ann Crall, 34, entered the plea in Jefferson County court, according to the county’s district attorney’s office. She was arrested in the case in July 2014.

Crall faked having cancer and was on probation in Jefferson County for a 2011 conviction for charitable fraud when she forged the letters and falsified documents, the office said.

The crimes were “an attempt to mislead and influence the probation officer from taking actions against her for failure to comply with the conditions of her probation,” the office said. Crall’s probation was revoked as part of her arrest, and she was sentenced to eight years in prison in connection with the charitable fraud conviction.
