Getting your player ready...

There were plenty of people out and about Tuesday doing their best to take advantage of the pleasant weather. If you weren’t among them, consider it an opportunity lost.

“It may be a while before there’s another one,” said Scott Entrekin of the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Snow will return to the area beginning Wednesday afternoon, Entrekin said, and is likely to continue into Thursday morning. The Denver area may get anywhere from 3 to 6 inches, while the foothills could see amounts ranging from 8 to 16 inches.

The foothills are under a winter storm watch from 2 p.m. Wednesday through 11 a.m. Thursday.

On Thursday the metro area is expected to receive light flurries, but not much in the way of accumulation.

However, Entrekin admits, that forecast is subject to change.

“We’re kind of in a wintery pattern of one storm after another,” he said. “If you’re looking for another dry, sunny day, you may have to wait until next week — maybe next Thursday.”
