The city of Longmont is in the process of buying a 40-acre parcel of land north of Ralph Price Reservoir from a private owner.

The city wants to manage the land near the reservoir, said Dan Wolford, Longmont land program administrator. The area was badly damaged in the 2013 flood and is closed to the public while repairs are made.

Pending City Council approval, Longmont city staff plan to purchase the land, a house and a portion of a road for $550,000. Included in that price is $50,000, to be held in escrow until the deal closes in September, as an incentive for the family to keep the property off the market.
