On Wednesday night, the 5A Sweet 16 was full of high-end play, oohs, aahs and balanced play that has kept it a season to watch.

OVERLAND 71, GRAND JUNCTION 36
In Aurora, the Trailblazers, a No. 1 seed, motored past the visiting Tigers. How much so? After a quarter, it was 16-4. At halftime, it was 36-7.
Yes, coach Danny Fisher’s guys are playing well.
IN advancing to 20-5, junior pivot De’Ron Davis went for 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Ryan Swan added 13 points, and Austin Conway and Alijah Halliburton each added 12.
Grand Junction finished 18-7.
CHAPARRAL 60, DAKOTA RIDGE 47
In Littleton, Jake Holtzmann and Chris Moody combined for 50 points as the Wolverines eliminated the field’s first No. 1 seed.
And Chaparral, now 18-7, did it convincingly and in style — it took the lead in the second quarter and held it. Plus, Holtzmann was a sparkling 20-of-21 at the free-throw line.
Al told, Holtzmann went for 30 points and Moody added 20. Moody also had 10 rebounds and Holtzmann nine. Only two other Wolverines scored.
Dakota Ridge, which won its first 14 games to start the season, ended 22-3.
EAGLECREST 56, FOSSIL RIDGE 49
In Centennial, Blend Avdili and Elijah Ross each had 15 points as the Raptors rolled.
Both also made key free throws down the stretch. Eaglecrest is 20-5 and in its thoird consecutive Great 8. The Raptors won the state championship in 2013.
The SaberCats of Fort Collins, runners-up a year ago, finished 18-7. Ryan Quaid led Fossil Ridge with 20 points.
Boulder ended 19-7.
MOUNTAIN VISTA 60, MONTBELLO 57
In Highlands Ranch, Ray Beresford had 27 points and the Golden Eagles motored to the Great 8.
Brady Subart added 11 points for Mountain Vista (20-5).
Montbello, comprised of players from multiple schools, finished 18-8.
LEGEND 63, GEORGE WASHINGTON 59
In Parker, it took two overtimes, but the Titans finally clawed their way past the Patriots.
Legend advanced to 19-6. GW ended 15-10.
THUNDERRIDGE 59, RAMPART 21
In Highlands Ranch, Noah Szilagyi had a team-high 14 points and the Grizzles improved to 22-3.
Troy Brady, Zach Pirog and Clay Verk each added 10 points for Thunderidge.
No player reached double figures for the Rams, who finished 18-7.
REGIS JESUIT 46, BOULDER 39
In Aurora, Kip Boryla had 15 points and the Raiders fended off the Panthers.
Geoff Kelly added 12 points and six rebounds for Regis Jesuit (23-2).
Boulder finished 19-7.
