
A statue of St. Francis that was damaged by vandals at a Denver church was repaired and returned to its post Thursday.
“This is very good news; it’s a relief,” said the Rev. John Kala bokes of St. Francis of Assisi Polish National Catholic Church.
have been brought against a pair of teenagers in the incident, which occurred Feb. 15. The 15- and 16-year-old boys are accused of smashing the statue with a hammer as well as doing additional damage inside the church.
The church has been the before. A statue of St. Francis was stolen from the church in 2010, and a replacement statue was damaged in 2012.
The Rev. Kalabokes said he hopes the arrest of the teenagers, who are due back in court this month, will put an end to the situation.
