Evans police are investigating a report that an elementary school teacher slapped a student last month in a classroom.
“We’ve attempted to make contact with the teacher but have yet to at this point,” said Cmdr. Chard Harding. “The investigation is on-going; we’ve talked to some people in the classroom, but there are other classmates we need to talk with.”
The incident reportedly occurred Feb. 24 at Centennial Elementary School. Harding could not confirm whether the teacher in question is on staff or a substitute, or what grade the student is in.
“We’re trying to make sure we’re clear about what a group of six- and seven-year-olds are saying,” Harding said.
Harding said he hoped the investigation would be completed next week.
