While Beyonce and Drake have encouraged the surprise album phenomenon, Kendrick Lamar is keeping the traditional route alive with an actual release date for his project.

On Friday Lamar tweeted a and revealed its release date in the process.

It looks like we’ll be hearing his sophomore album on March 23rd and if his previous two singles are any indication, KDot has a lot to say.

The Isley Brothers-sampling “i” was kept in heavy rotation and “The Blacker the Berry” proved there’s still a grimy side to Kendrick Lamar. The album looks to be about 16 tracks deep and will no doubt have every hip-hop head on the edge of their seat come March 23rd.
