What started as a man’s ice climb of the Flatirons Friday turned into a rescue from slushy conditions caused by warming temperatures, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Erik Kramak was ice climbing on the Second Flatiron at about 9:22 a.m. Friday, officials said, when conditions deteriorated because of the weather.
After finding a stable ledge, Kramak called 911. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, AMR Ambulance, City of Boulder Park Rangers and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded and Rocky Mountain Rescue group members were able to locate Kramak and assist him down.
