The driver in the accident that killed a pedestrian Sunday evening in Denver is suspected to have been driving under the influence, officials said.

Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the driver is being arrested and detained for investigation of vehicular homicide.

The accident took place around 8 p.m. at 14th Avenue and Federal Boulevard, Jackson said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Police remain on the scene and continue to investigate.
