A five-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 70 on Tuesday closed down four lanes of the highway for several hours and left at least two people seriously injured, Denver police said.

The Colorado Department of Transportation announced the closure near Havana Street at about 9:30 a.m. The lanes were reopened at about 1 p.m.

Police said “multiple” people were injured in the crash.

The Denver Fire Department said firefighters rescued one person involved in the wreck who was trapped inside of a vehicle.

Additional details on the wreck were not immediately available.
