1 Cat food thief. A clerk at the Family Dollar at 8495 Pecos St., Federal Heights, called police after a woman stole four cans of cat food Feb. 17. The suspect gave the clerk a $20 bill to pay for the cans, but then she grabbed it back out of the clerk’s hand and bolted out the door. Police couldn’t find her.

2 Table turning. Police were called to Hard Times Bar, 6771 E. 80th Ave., Commerce City, after a fight broke out on the patio. The bouncer said a group of men got into an argument and flipped a table outside. All of the suspects left the scene before police arrived Feb. 26.

3 Loaded. An intoxicated man stole his mother’s .45 caliber handgun and shot it in the 2000 block of West 92nd Avenue, Federal Heights, Feb. 19. The suspect told police he was worried he took too many painkillers. He was arrested.

4 Disconnected line. Police went to a home in the 1700 block of West 101st Avenue, Thornton, after a distressed caller hung up on dispatch Feb. 22. At the home, police found a man and woman fighting over a cell phone. The woman said the man had been physical with her, so he was arrested.

5 Conspicuous purse. A woman was cited for attempting to steal clothes from the Kohls at 12090 Colorado Blvd., Thornton. Store security watched the suspect take a bunch of clothes in the dressing room and come out with an overstuffed purse Feb. 17.

6 Hole in the fence. Neighbors of a family in the 14100 block of East 102nd Place, Commerce City, called police Feb. 25 because their neighbor’s three dogs were getting out of the yard. Police found a hole in the backyard fence and cited the dog owners.
