Aurora police officers arrested three men on Wednesday suspected in a botched robbery and shooting that left a 16-year-old girl and dog wounded.
The incident began near a Target store at 14200 E. Ellsworth Ave. on Tuesday. A 20-year-old man with the teenager was , police said.
According to a news release, Aurora police arrested Fernando Ayala-Santiago, 19, on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and aggravated cruelty to animals.
Steven Ramierez-Lomeli, 18, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
Both suspects are being held without bond.
Police also arrested Jared Jimenez, 19, in connection to the shooting. He was arrested on suspicion of accessory to attempted first-degree murder. His bond has been set at $10,000.
After the man and teenager were robbed at gunpoint, the two followed the vehicle carrying the people suspected of robbing them. Someone fired a gun from the vehicle, hitting the 16-year-old in the arm.
The girl was treated for her injury and is expected to survive. The dog, Shadow Dudley, was treated for an injury to her tail.
Police have not detailed the relationship between the 20-year-old man and the 16-year-old girl.
