Congratulations to University of Denver senior defenseman Joey LaLeggia on being named a Hobey Baker Award top-10 finalist. LaLeggia is from Burnaby, British Columbia, Joe Sakic’s hometown, but no current Avs player knows him personally. Lake Erie defenseman Stefan Elliott skates with LaLeggia in the summers, and I thought Tyson Barrie did too, but that’s not the case. Many Avs players know of LaLeggia and were happy to see him make the top-10 for NCAA player of the year.
