HomeAdvisor, formerly Service Magic, is opening a new sales office in Colorado Springs next month and plans to hire 100 employees by the end of the year.
“We looked all over the country — and, frankly, all over the world — to try to figure out where is the next best place to open a new sales center,” said Chris Terrill, CEO of the Golden company that helps consumers find vetted home-maintenance contractors. “We really liked Colorado Springs, and we liked the talent level there.”
The sales center, which will temporarily be housed at the former , will employ sales people who reach out to contractors nationwide.
In a major overhaul, HomeAdvisor because its old name was far from magical. While the Internet company took a major hit in Web traffic, a move to TV advertising has helped HomeAdvisor rebrand and recapture losses.
Last year, revenues grew 32 percent from the prior year, to $300 million. The company employs 1,500, including 900 in the Denver area.
