Flushing out winter
Crested Butte closes out its ski season April 1-5 with the town’s 47th annual Flauschink. The weekend “flushes” out winter and welcomes spring with a parade, a ski slope salute, polka dance and other festivities surrounding the naming of this year’s Flauschink king and queen. Remember to stop by the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum to check out the Flauschink exhibit on display.
Easter with Snoopy
Ride on Peanuts’ Easter Beagle Express train on April 4. Create craft projects, enjoy storytelling, musical entertainment, games and more. All passengers will receive a souvenir mug and a surprise Easter gift. Tickets begin at $69 for adults and $49 for children. The train departs Durango at 9:45 a.m. and returns to the station at 3 p.m.
Beer and Chili festival
Spring Fever in Breckenridge continues with a Beer and Chili Cook-off on April 4, in which chefs from the resort will go head to head in a chili cooking competition. $20 for all-you-can-eat chili tasting and a vote for your favorite. The cook-off begins at noon at Sevens Restaurant at the base of Peak 7.
Homemade sled racing
Keystone Resort’s Red Bull Schlittentag is April 4. From the German for “sledding day,” teams of three will build a homemade sled for racing. Winners will be judged on creativity, fastest time and distance.
