Getting your player ready...

Pros could learn from college. Here’s credit where credit is due, Kiz. Excellent work on that NFL overtime joint. You are spot on about the unfairness and idiocy of the current overtime system. I get why the NFL water carriers on television are quiet about this issue. But I don’t understand why more sportswriters aren’t beating the drum loudly for change. I’ve been saying for years the NFL should adopt the overtime system that the college game employs: Each team gets the football on the 25-yard line until someone wins. But I suspect the NFL would never let a new rule bubble up from the amateur ranks.

Kevin, truth to power

Kiz: OK, here’s one more wacky overtime proposal from my crazy imagination. Place the football on the 50-yard line. First downs are allowed. But punting, field goals and place-kicks after a touchdown are forbidden. Team A plays offense until it scores a touchdown, loses a turnover or turns the ball over on downs. If Team A scores a TD, it must attempt a two-point conversion, and then gives Team B the ball on the 50-yard line with a chance to tie or win. If Team A loses a fumble, throws an interception or turns the ball over on downs, Team B can win by merely advancing the ball past the 50-yard line; failure to advance past the 50 results in defeat.

Plenty of hate for everyone. You’re such a hater. And we all hate you. I can’t wait until you no longer cover Colorado sports.

Kiz: After all these years, we here at Kickin’ It Headquarters finally have discovered we do have something in common with actress Ashley Judd. If either of us expresses an opinion about college basketball, folks on Twitter succinctly remind us why it’s called March Madness.

True-blue fan. You want to give me Kentucky and take the field in the NCAA Tournament? Deal.

Logan, Cat lover

Kiz: OK, here’s one more fearless forecast that might make your Cat-loving skin crawl: Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky will be a better NBA player than anybody on the current Kentucky roster.

Backing Booker. And today’s parting shot fires back at critics of senior guard Askia Booker, who left the CU basketball team rather than participating in a March tournament of zero renown.

All those Colorado fans calling Booker a quitter know nothing about him or his game. Colorado is not in the CBI to win it. The Buffaloes are using the tournament as scrimmages for next year. Don’t teams usually open their gyms for free during scrimmages instead of charging $15 for tickets?
