Colorado Springs police officers responding to reports of a shooting early Tuesday found a 26-year-old woman fatally wounded at an apartment complex.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office ruled Tuesday the woman’s cause of death was from a gunshot wound and her manner of death was homicide.
Officers were called to reports of a shooting at about 1 a.m. on the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard and found the woman suffering from “apparent traumatic injuries,” police said.
Authorities say she was found in the parking lot of the Mountain Country Estates apartment complex.
“Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the female to a local hospital where she died from her injuries,” according to police.
Police did not comment further on the case and called their investigation ongoing. The woman’s identity was not released.
“No persons of interest have been identified in this investigation,” police said. “The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.”
Anyone with information on the death is asked to call police at (719) 444-7000.
