Five boys charged in a January sexual assault on a freshman girl who attends Englewood High School will not be charged as adults, the 18th Judicial District attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

“In the interests of justice, the 18th Judicial District attorney’s office will not charge the juvenile defendants involved in this matter as adults,” the office said. “Our office will continue to seek the maximum penalty for them under the juvenile law.”
The girl was assaulted at a weekend house party in Englewood, prosecutors say.
Hill’s preliminary hearing is now set for April 27. He faces charges of sexual assault while overcoming a victim’s will, child sex assault, sexual exploitation of a child, sexual exploitation of a child with intent to sell and/or publish and a violent sex crime.
Hill is being held at the Arapahoe County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Hill and four boys — two 16-year-olds and two 15-year-olds — were arrested. A fifth boy was arrested, but authorities have not released his age.

At Tuesday’s hearing, Hill appeared in black jail clothes and was sporting a soft mustache and long, straight black hair. He was shackled and didn’t speak during his brief appearance before a judge.
Hill’s public defenders asked for the continuance citing “a potential conflict” as he maintained a blank stare in the courtroom.
The girl told police she was the victim of a series of sexual assaults outside a drug- and alcohol-fueled party Jan. 25. The girl said the group of suspects ignored her repeated pleas to stop assaulting her.
The five boys are students at Englewood public schools; some are the girl’s classmates.
At a hearing for Hill last month, an Arapahoe County prosecutor suggested the five boys .
