A 66-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 25 late Sunday in Northglenn, police said.

The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway, according to police.

“The initial investigation indicates that the victim’s vehicle was stopped in the center lane of northbound I-25 when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck,” police said in a news release.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The driver of the pickup truck was a 27-year-old male,” the release said. “He was not injured.”

Authorities say people who witnessed the crash stopped to provide investigators with information. Police say the driver of the pickup truck is cooperating.

“Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor,” the release said.

Police say the woman’s name is not being released pending notification of her family. The interstate was closed for three hours as police investigated the wreck.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police at (303) 450-8890.
