An Arvada police officer crashed his cruiser into a ravine Monday night in Denver, Arvada police have confirmed.
The crash happened at about 9:20 p.m. in the area of 46th Avenue and Packing House Road near the National Western Stock Show complex. The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to Denver police.
The officer was on “official police business” when he crashed, according to Jill McGranahan, a spokeswoman for Arvada police. She did not elaborate further on what the officer was doing in Denver.
“I can’t comment on the accident as it is in Denver and their jurisdiction,” McGranahan said.
Denver police say the crash only involved the officer’s vehicle.
“He appears to have crashed his vehicle into a guardrail and struck a tree also,” according to Sonny Jackson, a Denver police spokesman.
Jackson said Denver authorities are investigating the crash.
Further information on the wreck was not immediately available.
