Denver Police on Wednesday evening arrested one of two men suspected of robbing a 70-year-old grandmother in a Walmart parking lot earlier this week.

Police identified that man as 39-year-old Jesse Giron. They have obtained an arrest warrant for a second man, who they identified as Lenny Esquibel, also 39. Esquibel was still at large Wednesday evening.

Police said one of their officers recognized one of the suspects on a crime alert bulletin as a team manager with the Police Activities League.

The robbery occurred Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a Walmart at 7800 E. Smith Road. Police said the victim was attacked after she cashed a check at the service center and was returning to her car.

One of the suspects struck her in the face several times and took the cash from her hand, police said. They then fled in a black SUV.

7News reported that the woman had just cashed her $4,800 tax return.
