Justin Joseph, KDVR

The family of of Evans, Colorado, maintained from the start that she did not commit suicide as alleged but was, in fact, murdered. Fox31 reporter was instrumental in bringing evidence to light that caused authorities to reopen the case.

Interviews with Joseph, Fallis family members and others involved, along with footage from Fox31 newscasts will be featured in this weeks’ “48 Hours.” The CBS newsmagazine will recount the case at 9 p.m. Saturday on CBS4.

Evans police decided last April to reopen the investigation and hand it over to Fort Collins police, who examined claims of a coverup and incompetence. During a news conference in Denver last year, the surviving members of the Fallis family detailed why they believe Ashley’s husband Tom Fallis, a former Weld County law enforcement officer, actually pulled the trigger.

The local murder investigation is the subject of an hour long special with “48 Hours” correspondent Erin Moriarty.
