The Colorado Department of Transportation has started a $2 million safety improvement project on Federal Boulevard, between 52nd and 67th avenues.
The project, which is is scheduled for completion in June, includes construction of median islands with street lighting and landscaped planters; pedestrian countdown signals; new traffic signal heads; new crosswalks; and lighting under the Federal Boulevard bridge illuminating Clear Creek Trail.
The work will improve safety by consolidating left-turn movements to and from Federal Avenue. Special provisions have been made for emergency access.
It will require single-lane closures north of Interstate 76 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. South of I-76, lane closures will occur 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the southbound direction and 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. northbound.
