Injured Denver policeman John Adsit will throw out a first pitch Friday for the Rockies before their home opener against the Chicago Cubs.

Adsit, a nine-year veteran of the force, was one of four officers injured when a motorist suffering from a seizure crashed into them while they monitored a protest march near Denver East High School on Dec. 3. Adsit was hospitalized for 11 weeks and underwent 11 surgeries.

The driver of the car, Christopher Booker, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault and vehicular assault.

Joining Adsit at Coors Field will be his wife, Michelle, sons, Ronald and Rylan, and daughters, Jordan and Morgan.

Two ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out on Opening Day. Following a Rockies’ tradition of having a season ticket holder participating, the first pitch will be Station 6 Denver Fire Fighter and 1993 Colorado Rockies original Season Ticket Holder Butch Hess, the Rockies said in a news release.

Coors Field parking lots will open at 9 a.m., with Rooftop gates A and B opening at 11 a.m. and Gates C, D and E opening at noon.
