LONGMONT — One female osprey has left the nest at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont and the remaining female is mating with the adult male, county Parks and Open Space officials report.
Losing out — for the second year in a row, apparently — is a banded female osprey that was the third adult bird to show up at the nest at the eastern edge of the Fairgrounds’ Cattail Pond, which sits northwest of Hover Street and Nelson Road.
Retaining her rights to the nest was an unbanded female that arrived March 25.
She was joined March 29 by an adult male osprey.
