. It seems like a horrible generalization, but it’s true. Musicians go for over something that’s actually user-friendly.

, the Brooklyn indie-pop duo , that’s both easy to use and really freaking creative. Seriously, right now.
The Tanlines website is an exact replica of Netflix, complete with “Recently Watched”, “Top Picks for You”, “Because You Listened to” and other sections with the scrolling DVD covers you’ve grown to know and love (or hate).
Each cover features Tanlines’ Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm on the cover and links to a song or video from the band. The section “Great Second Acts” shows real movie covers and, if you’re logged into Netflix, will actually start playing “Terminator 2” or “Frasier”. Under “Tanlines North American Tour”, each city they stop at uses a clever movie with the name in it.
What’s also fun is the joke section titles poking fun at some of the Netflix offers. Some of our favorites:
“Tropical Depression”: Feat. “Lost,” “Cast Away”
“American Actors Doing British Accents”: Feat. “Shakespeare In Love,” “Bridget Jones’s Diary”
But the best part about this website is it actually makes sense. If you want to find what you’re looking for quickly, Tanlines has all the navigation at the top.
Well done, Tanlines. Other bands, you can stop paying expensive web designers. Tanlines has you beat.
And for those of you who are a fan of Tanlines’ music along with their web presence, you’ll be happy to know that their new album, “Highlights,” is due out on May 19.
