Police in Aurora have arrested a 34-year-old suspect in the at a home last week.

Christopher Michael Martinez was arrested in Weld County late Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder. Members of the county sheriff’s office SWAT team took Martinez into custody in Wattenburg where he surrendered without incident.

Martinez is also being held on suspicion of first-degree assault in the fatal shooting.

The shooting happened early on April 1 at a home on the 18000 block of East Mercer Drive.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed as 33-year-old Clifford Eugene Wilson Junior.

Authorities say Wilson died from multiple gunshot wounds and his manner of death was homicide.

Investigators said they believe Wilson and Martinez knew each other before the shooting. Police said an altercation precipitated the fatal encounter, but they did not elaborate on the fight or the relationship of the two men.
