Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Aurora

U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman donated money he received from disgraced Congressman Aaron Schock to a veteran’s organization, his spokesman said today.

As a matter of principle we don’t respond to fake news websites, nor did we feel a need to trumpet the donation. Sorry to upset the left-wing attack machine so desperate to find a flaw with Mike Coffman,” spokesman Tyler Sandburg said.

The Colorado Independent reported today that Coffman, an Aurora Republican, has received at least $20,000 since 2008 from Schock, after reports that the FBI was investigating how he spent taxpayer money.

The Colorado Democratic Party and the liberal group ProgressNow jumped on the story, with ProgressNow urging Coffman to get rid of the “tainted money.”

Coffman is the second Colorado politician this month to donate money received from a politician under investigation to veterans groups. the amount he received from New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez’s PAC, after Menendez was indicted.

when Shock and another Republican were talking about unseating the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Greg Walden.
