Last year Star Wars Day at Session Kitchen drew about 100 fans. (Provided by Session Kitchen.)
Chef Scott Parker of Session Kitchen is a huge Star Wars fan, and always wanted to do a theme dinner that swept diners off to distant galaxies. He got his wish last year, on May 4, the day when Star Wars fans celebrate the Lucas movie franchise.
Star Wars Day, celebrated by sci-fi geeks who love the Lucas movie franchise, returns again this year at , complete with a battle between Jedi and Sith, and lots of fans dressed as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and all the other characters.
“Chef Scott Parker and some of the other chefs in the kitchen are very big Star Wars fans,” said general manager Max Seid. “Throughout his career, he always wanted to do a theme dinner, and we talked last year, and decided to do it.”
Star Wars Day is, of course, May 4. “May the fourth be with you” is a pun on the franchise’s iconic line, “May the Force be with you.”
Last year the intergalactic dinner drew about 100 geeks and nerds, so it’s coming back bigger and better this year. Chef Parker will create another Star-Wars inspired menu, and there will be a Battle of Jedi vs. Sith (forces of light against forces of dark) at places called Dagobah Station and Tauntaun Station.
That’s where the breweries New Belgium (Team Jedi) and Lagunitas (Team Sith) come in. They’re pitting their many different beers against each other in such categories as Adept, Initiate, Warrior, Padawan, Knight, Marauder, Sith Lord and Jedi Master.
Of course, they’ll be a costume contest and a photo booth for fan photos.
Cost is $65 per nerd, and the event starts at 6 p.m. Seating is limited, so call 720-763-3387 to make a reservation. Session Kitchen, 1518 S Pearl St.
