Getting your player ready...

ThunderRidge High School junior Carter Dolven is recovering in the intensive-care unit at Littleton Adventist Hospital after suffering a ruptured kidney during a junior varsity boys lacrosse game against Douglas County on Tuesday.

According to ThunderRidge coach Greg Martinez, Dolven was going for the ball when he received a hard, non-malicious hit in the back area from an opposing player and collapsed. There was no penalty on the play.

“He’s been sleeping well,” Martinez said. “He’s not in serious condition. He’s just being monitored.”

Martinez said he’s seen a variety of injuries through the years, from broken collarbones to broken thumbs but never one quite this serious.
