LOS ANGELES — Former rap music mogul Marion “Suge” Knight must stand trial on charges of murder and attempted-murder for striking two men with his pickup truck, killing one and seriously injuring the other, a judge ruled Thursday.

Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen rejected Knight’s argument that he acted in self-defense when he was viciously attacked by a group of men outside a Compton burger stand.

After the ruling, Knight was transported to a hospital for an undisclosed medical emergency, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Nishida. Knight’s attorney, Matt Fletcher, did not return a message seeking comment.

Authorities contend Knight intentionally hit the men, killing Terry Carter, 55, and injuring Cle “Bone” Sloan. Fletcher argued his client was ambushed and was trying to escape Sloan’s attack when he ran over the men.
