Police in Fort Collins are investigating after they say a man apparently fatally shot his wife Thursday morning before killing himself.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of Eastwood Drive at about 4:30 a.m. on reports of “suspicious circumstances where a woman may have been injured.”
First responders at the scene found a woman who had been fatally shot.
“Information received by Fort Collins police indicated that the suspect in the woman’s death was likely her husband and (that he) may commit suicide,” police said in a news release.
Officers were led through their investigation to discover the suspect’s unoccupied vehicle near the Edora Pool and Ice Center.
“An intensified search led officers to the deceased body of the identified suspect in this case,” the release said.
Police say there are no additional suspects being sought nor any reason to believe there is further risk to the community.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the husband and wife, according to police.
