A three mile stretch of Interstate 70 between Floyd Hill and Idaho Springs was closed part of Thursday as road crews completed emergency rockfall mitigation.
The interstate was be closed in both directions starting at about 10 a.m. between milemarkers 244 and 247. Traffic was moving through with lengthy delays in the afternoon. Eastbound lands reopened before 4 p.m. and westbound lanes should be completely reopened by 5 p.m.
The full closure was initially scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. when the westbound lanes of the interstate were closed. Officials decided to keep the eastbound lanes open for an hour longer.
