T.C. Boyle was praised as a “genuine American original” and named the winner of the Rea Award for the Short Story last week. The $30,000 prize, founded by Michael M. Rea in 1986, is given each year to the best short-story writer in the United States or Canada.
Boyle, who teaches creative writing at the University of Southern California, has been included in five editions of “The Best American Short Stories.” His new novel, his 15th, is “The Harder They Come.”
