The man killed by a sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday has been identified as 39-year-old Lue Vang of Northglenn, the Boulder County Coroner’s Office said Friday.
Authorities say the deputy, later identified as Jeffrey Brunkow, a 14-year veteran of the department,
, killing the man.
The shooting happened at the Doudy Draw trailhead.
The case remains under investigation.
According to the Westminster Police Department, the situation began with a telephone call requesting a welfare check for family members on the 10100 block of Benton Street.
Police said that the suspect originally went there to transfer the title of a vehicle and left with two men. Family members contacted the two men and learned they were being held against their will.
Eventually, deputies found the car, a white Honda sedan, near the trailhead, 4100 Eldorado Springs Drive.
