More news out of the Philadelphia Eagles’ camp as CSN Philadelphia reports quarterback Mark Sanchez saying that he was told the team signed Tim Tebow as a camp arm.

“He’s [Tebow’s] obviously a great guy, he works hard,” Sanchez said. “We needed another guy to throw while Sam’s [Bradford] still recovering, so that’s the reason there at least as it was explained to me. So we’re excited about the upcoming year and I think we have a great group.”

Sanchez’s comments may shed some light on why the Eagles signed the former Heisman trophy winner to a one-year contract Monday. Tebow had been out of the NFL since before the 2013 season when he was a member of the New England Patriots.

Many have theorized what Tebow’s role in the Eagles’ offense may be. Former Denver Post Broncos reporter Mike Klis should the league decide to make changes to the way it handles PATs and two-point conversions next season.
